This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the film being covered here wouldn’t exist.

Thanksgiving, the faux promo that was featured in Eli Roth’s Grindhouse fifteen years ago is now a real film with a real teaser trailer!

That’s right folks—Roth has finally carried through on his threat/promise to actually make the slasher film only hinted at in Grindhouse. The new movie’s premise is simple: A killer carves his way through a small town on Thanksgiving. Nothing captures the feeling of being home for the holidays better than mass murder!

Leading us through this murderous rampage by a dude wearing a pilgrim hat and mask are actors Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, and none other than Patrick Dempsey. Roth is directing and also penned the script along with Jeff Rendell.

The teaser is short, but gives us more than a couple of kills as well as some generous blood spray and someone in a turkey costume marching in a parade, so there’s a lot to be thankful for! Thanksgiving makes its way into theaters on November 17, 2023. See it with your family! Or not, depending on how eager you are to see a slasher film full of violently festive murders with those you might spend your Turkey Day with.
